Dog Adoption Process and Fees
At our shelter, the dog adoption process is an ethical act that allows our dogs to start a new life. The SPA de Haguenau & Environs thanks you for choosing the shelter for this choice full of love.
How does the dog adoption process work?
In order to efficiently process your applications, please complete our dog adoption application form before any meeting and/or adoption of the organisation’s protégés. To send it back, we kindly ask you to email spa.hag.chiens@gmail.com. Your answers will help us to determine whether the living conditions and atmosphere you will provide may be suitable for the dog you wish to adopt.
To ensure that your new friend will enjoy your lifestyle, we will ask you to come to the shelter. Our head animal experts or volunteers will welcome you and answer any questions you may have.
After meeting the dog, an appointment at your home will be scheduled if our team approves moving on to the next step. This visit will allow our staff to see if your home is suitable for housing the animal. If your home is deemed suitable for the animal, you can sign the adoption contract that will be submitted to you. In addition, an introductory booklet will be given to you along with the animal’s health record booklet.
If the adopting family wishes, we can provide a pre-adoption contract called “adjustment period” to ensure good compatibility with the pets already living in the home before signing the final adoption contract.
Our dogs join their new family:
- microchipped or tattooed,
- vaccinated (first vaccination against CHPLR and kennel cough),
- neutered for all our females and for some of our males.
Documents needed for adoption:
Here are the required documents to adopt a dog at the SPA de Haguenau & Environs:
- an identity card,
- a recent proof of address (gas bill, telephone bill, etc.),
- a proof of liability insurance.
Contributions* to the adoption fees:
For an uncastrated male | more than 8 months old | 185 € |
less than 8 months old | 200 € | |
For a castrated male | more than 8 months old | 300 € |

For a sterilised female | more than 8 months old | 300 € |
less than 8 months old | 300 € |
* It is a contribution, as the SPA de Haguenau & Environs takes care of the chipping, vaccination and desexing fees.
